OFFENDING MUSLIMS

Please forgive me for this political rant.

I have American Muslim friends.
I've read the Qu'ran twice and the Holy Scriptures/New Testament twice. I try to question and study western religion with an open mind of logic without emotion.

I firmly believe that political correctness in regard to muslims in America today is based on ignorance and mindlessness.

I heard this morning on the radio how a bank in Oklahoma was forced by the bank inspector, to remove christian motivated freebie buttons and the bible verse of the day. It was reported that the bank inspector said that they didn't want to "...insult muslims".
We've all heard of PC moves like this and it seems I've been hearing them more and more recently. So I just felt I needed to say...

STOP IT.

That's stupid.

Of course I believe in the separation of church and state and I believe it's only the fool who doesn't. Of course I believe that we, as a society should avoid insulting muslims. I believe that we should also avoid insulting jews, christians, budhists etc. A society has no business insulting or encouraging religions. But I think we've been going pretty overboard lately.

I asked my bhurka sporting friend, the one who invited me to her mosque and gave me my copy of the Qu'ran how she feels about our overwhelming onslaught of Christmas cheer that we keep smearing on the poor muslims who dare to come out in public in the U.S.A. in December. She scoffed at me.
Then she pointed to the fully decorated christmas tree just outside of her office (not her tree but not a bother to her). She pointed at the poinsettas that she bought and brought to give to everyone for Christmas, and the other Christmas decorations all around the area.

And she said (paraphrased). I'm an American muslim. I grew up here and this is my home. This is where I've always lived and this is the way it's always been and it doesn't bother me at all. I asked her if she knows of anyone in her mosque or social circles that find it insulting that we flaunt Christmas in America in December.

She said of course not.
This is America and that's what you expect in America. If a muslim has grown up here then they are used to it and they understand our country as it is and that there are many religions living in harmony here. If they are muslims coming from another country then they should expect and accept the way we are because this is our country and not theirs.

So stop it.
Just stop it.
Politically correct Christmas is hooey.
