I think the people alive on the earth today are just about the least informed people to be on this planet in the past two hundred years.
Yes I do.
You may be thinking just the opposite. You are probably going to say that people are far more informed now than ever since we have so many sources of information and news. You're going to point out that anyone who wants it can know instantly when there is big news happening in the world. And anyone who wants it can look up the answers to their questions in so many different forums that it's hard to be steered wrong if you're looking for the truth.
Well that's the problem. I said "...if you're looking for the truth".
Nobody seems to be doing that anymore.
I have some politically inclined friends and I have some news-hound friends and I have some friends who don't wish to know what's going on anywhere, other than the news of the entertainment or sports industries. All these people seem to get their news about the world in much the same ways. They find a news source and follow it or they avoid news sources and stick with that. All of them are, in my opinion, wrong.
It's so important in our time to pay close attention to the things that are happening in our world. There are so many potential calamaties that are about and so many upheavals that it's important for a person to stay abreast of current events just for the sake of survival.
Listen to the news of the day. Read the latest stuff from around the world. What you hear is pretty much the same but the attitude in which it is presented is slanted depending on where you go for your information. Most, and maybe all news sources today are biased in one way or another. Most, and maybe all of them tell you the news with a little bit of presuasion on their own parts, so that you will react to this news in ways that they see fit. And so they, in a sense, exercise control over you.
Too many people nowadays feel strongly about being political conservatives or liberals. They feel so strongly about it that they only listen to politically conservative or liberal news. They spend all their information gathering time reinforcing their own politically stringent viewpoints. I've noticed that many people nowadays absolutely refuse to hear the other side of an issue that disagrees with their own.
When you do that, you're not learning. You're not bettering or benefitting yourself. Stop being biased. Stop being hard-headed please. Please try to keep an open mind and quit searching for answers to questions that you already know and want the answers to. Try looking for things you disagree with, to things you're not familiar with and maybe you too can learn something new.
