Misunderstanding?

Thanks for bailing me out honey.  But that just shouldn't have happened.  We didn't need to go through all that silly nonsense.  When they put a sign up they need to honor that sign.  Consider it a contract between them and you.  If they put up a sign that says oranges are free and I take an orange then how can they feel right and proper calling the police to chase me down?

What?
Well no.  That's not exactly what happened.  It was different.

Like when my school, TCC, decided to run off the smokers.
They made signs:

TCC
TOBACCO FREE

I still don't understand why everyone got mad at me when I told the street people that TCC has free tobacco.  I read it like TCC TOBACCO, FREE.
I mean, how else are you supposed to read it?  I had no idea that would cause me to almost lose my job.

Well anyway, there's this wonderful Chinese restaurant down the street.  I like to go there once a week.  They have an all-you-can-eat lunch.  I told them last week when I was there that I hadn't eaten all I could eat yet.  I had to get back to work to get some things done.  All I can eat is a lot.  So when I went back in there yesterday, I let them know when I walked in that I was there to finish my lunch from the week before.  Everyone smiled and got me my drink and plate.  Everyone was so nice while I sat there finishing up my previous lunch.  Everyone was so pleasant and friendly.  Why did they change so quickly?

When I walked out after finishing, I was chased by the pretty Chinese girl and her quiet husband and some guy in an apron from the back room who apparently couldn't speak a word of any language that I'm familiar with.

I ran.
I mean, what the hell was I supposed to do?  The guy with the apron had some kind of carving tool in his hand.  They cornered me.  Called the police to whom I explained everything.  The police seemed loopy too.  They had no patience at all.  So anyway, thanks for bailing me out honey.

Boy, see if I ever go to that restaurant again.
