Some give more

In the Med, not far off the coast of Spain, there are a group of holiday spots called the Balearic Islands. Our ship put in sometimes to the large one, Mallorca. If I ever pull off a major heist or run from the Feds or need to vanish from the world, that's where you can find me.

Palma de Mallorca, a most wonderful place in the world.
This is such a nice island that, after we'd been at sea for six months, and were heading back to the states, one of our crew jumped ship and tried to swim back to it. He jumped after muster and I assume that he was hoping they wouldn't realize he was missing until we were far out to sea and they'd give him up for dead, lost at sea. The Navy would then send his insurance money to his parents who could wire it to him in Palma.

He was caught though.
By some other ships that travelled with us.

Some of us rented a car and took off to the inner island to drive around and sight-see. We saw beautiful country with windmills and lots of agriculture and wonderful quaint country villages that make you want to stop the car and stay right there forever.

Back in town one night I was walking around alone and stopped in a bar on the strip because I was bored and tired of walking. An older gentleman was there on a barstool. There were to more stools so I took one. He began talking to me like we were friends. When away from home English speaking people easily flock together for friendship. He realized I was off the carrier so he started talking to me about the war. The big one. WWII. He was on the HMS Somethingorother. Said he got his peter blown off in the war but it didn't matter to him.

I said it woulda mattered to me.

He said that was thirty years ago so it didn't bother him anymore.

I said that if I'd been missing my member for over thirty years I'd be real bothered. I don't remember all we said but I do remember laughing a lot.

After I left I realized what a horrible thing I'd done. I laughed loudly at a man who was telling me he had his manhood blown off while protecting my miraculous ability to grow up in freedom.

Some gave more than others.
Some will never forget.
